So Pocahontas for my ''Princess warrior'' project! YA! She was suck a pain to draw and color too ... ::: D And her design isn't so different from the orginal costume but I just wanted to make her more .. umm .. ruthless I guess... She is some kinda of executioner-warrior : DDDD
Also I didn't want to make armor to her or sword or anything like that I wanted to keep her ''wild'' : ) I love pocahontas BTW!

I hope you like it. Comments plz! ;)

ps. She didn't kill Meeko if you think one of those tails is his.

Done with: Copic markers, ink, white ink.

based on any particular culture?
StrayCatfish Featured By Owner Jan 23, 2015  Hobbyist General Artist
I'm gonna assume it's based around Sioux design. Though there are many little signs like the robe and war-club that point towards Iroquois.
BurningResurrection Featured By Owner Jan 24, 2015
Iroquois would make more sense considering the regio

This series you created has long held my admiration! <3 Especially Pocahontas!

I don't do your art justice but I tried to cosplay her:…

Hoping to find more people to join the group in cosplaying the whole set.

Thank you for the inspiration!

I'm glad you kept the tribal aspect of pocahontas, I know some would put her in Spanish Armor for some reason.

I like how while the costume is similar the differences are amazing.  Especially the little splashes of blood and her body language.

I'm a cosplayer and would LOVE to have your permission to make your design into a costume to wear for Naka-Kon 2014. Is this okay?
Sadyna Featured By Owner Dec 13, 2013  Hobbyist
Totally okay :) I'd love to see some cosplay pictures ~~
FaithsFunhouse Featured By Owner Dec 14, 2013  Hobbyist Artist
Thank you so much! <3 It'll be one of my first costumes for Naka-Kon in March  2014. I'll be posting my WIPs as well as the finished product and professional pictures once there's a photoshoot. Would you be able to inbox me and let me know what her strap on the back goes to? I was going to make it a strap with loops to hold her staff, but wasn't sure if it was that or a quiver.

I love the emotion, she radiates strength and perhaps a little contempt. She is more than an adventurer's prize. She is her own.

Have you heard of the "Manic Pixie Dream Girl" trope? Do you think Pocahontas, Crysta from Fern Gully, or Neytiri from Avatar fits the concept of an unrealistically happy female love interest who is strangely devoted to helping a depressed male lead embrace life and its infinite mysteries and adventures?

Maybe Manic Pixie Dream Girl is a stretch. Depression isn't really the problem for John Smith, Zak and Jake Sully. Rather they suffer more from the crushing frustration and monotony of industrial society. Maybe Pocahontas, Crysta and Neytiri are more "Soothing Pixie Earth Goddesses": A female love interest devoted to helping the male lead escape into earth centered society.

Your artwork is so detailed and creative. I absolutely love this series! I hope we can continue to expect more of these awesome Disney Warriors. They are fantastic.

Sexy and badass.

I can appreciate that.
shinedust Featured By Owner Oct 31, 2013
Pocahontas, in reality, was against violence - one of the aspects of her story that Disney got right was that she did actually save Smith by blocking his body with her form from her father (I think was her father, I may just be thinking about the movie now). I personally never cared for the historical figure of Pocahontas, I have issues with her--but I digress! You did a lovely job with the character design all the same.

I love the details you added and how you changed her necklace into a belt and gave her a place for the compass, the tattoos and that look on her face...quite frankly...this is the Pocahontas I wished she'd actually been in real life! :XD: Great job!

"Jerk!", she said, walking away from the Captain's inert form.  And thus, the course of history was changed.
